Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre

Tucked into the rolling foothills of Southwest Virginia’s Appalachians, Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre is a true family affair. What began in 1999 as Peggy Sutphin’s dream—a place where great food and live performance share the same spotlight—continues today under the care of Drs. Amanda Brewer-Lord and Stephen Lord. Inspired by the Sutphins’ German roots, “the Haus” blends Old‑World charm with down‑home hospitality, staging everything from high‑energy musicals and laugh‑out‑loud comedies to intimate concerts and special events.

Every ticket includes our signature four‑course meal, prepared fresh in‑house and delivered to your table by a waitstaff that treats you like kin. It’s dinner and a show, crafted start to finish under one roof, so you can relax, settle in, and let the curtain rise. Peggy always said that Wohlfahrt Haus was a family first and a theatre second, and we still live by those words. When you’re at the Haus, you’re home.

Theater Food

Our culinary team treats dinner like a headline act. Each show night begins with a four‑course menu planned, prepped, and plated entirely in‑house think scratch‑made soups, garden‑fresh salads, entrées slow‑roasted or seared to order, and desserts that earn their standing ovation. We lean into the flavors of Southwest Virginia—local produce, pasture-raised meats, and freshly baked bread—so every bite feels both familiar and a little bit special. Vegetarian, gluten‑free, or another dietary need? Just give us a heads up, and the chef will gladly craft an encore that fits. While the stage sets the story, your table sets the mood—so arrive hungry, relax into the ambiance, and let our chef‑crafted meal carry you straight to showtime.
